As a Nordic, Ingvar Nobel was not pleased. Even though he did get some warm weather, it was nothing compared to what it felt like in the Coliseum. He fanned himself with one of the cheesy little tourist pamphlets he’d picked up at the entrance—cheesy, but semi informative. And remembering what things had been like back then made him smile, even though he was burning up. Things had definitely been livelier then. And fun. Things had definitely been more fun. Staring down into the pit, the Swede couldn’t help but think of the past; his past. He’d ruled most of Northern Europe with an iron fist when he was an Empire. Hell, if he hadn’t been greedy, he might have been on top still. And, of course, if it hadn’t been for Russia, Denmark, and Norway. The bastards. He remembered fondly the times when he’d surpassed all three of them. If he’d asked them to lick his boot, they just might have been forced to oblige. A chill ran down Ingvar’s spine, and his smile widened. Nothing could push down his inner Viking—he would always love the control he’d had, even if he held a friendly façade now. It was dangerous not too. If any of the stronger nations knew he was still power hungry, they’d probably lock him down. Especially America. God, he stuck his nose in everything. Too bad he hadn’t been around back when Ingvar and Kalevi could have used his help. A dusty wind blew in his face, and Sweden coughed at the intrusion. But even that made him remember the good old days. If only they could go back to wind-swept battlefields, filled with the sounds of clashing metal and war cries. Back to the days when he got along with Denmark and Norway, and Finland was that neighboring nation he was eyeing. Yeah, those were the days. The ex-Viking peered around the coliseum, looking for someone to share this building nostalgia. There was surely someone that he knew all those years ago that he could talk about ‘the good old days’ with. He would be just fine with someone he didn't know too. |
